Clematis Cottage

a luxury four-star self-catering holiday cottage

Local Area

Situated on the edge of Dartmoor, Swardicott Farm makes the perfect base for exploring all that Devon has to offer. Market towns such as Barnstaple and Bideford with their combination of old world charm and modern shopping centres are ideal places to soak up the atmosphere of Devon.

Winding 180 miles through the North Devon countryside, the Tarka Trail rewards the more adventurous visitor with a view of the “The Land of Two Rivers” that has changed little since Henry Williamson wrote his famous novel Tarka the Otter.

Renowned for some of the finest and cleanest beaches in Europe, including the Blue Flag awarded Woolacombe beach, North Devon makes a family holiday something special. Watersports including windsurfing, surf-skiing and canoeing can all be enjoyed on local beaches just a short drive from your cottage.

Luxury self-catering holiday cottage

at Swardicott Farm, North Devon

Swardicott Farm, set in the heart of rural North Devon, offers one luxury four-star self-catering holiday cottage, Clematis.

The farm is ideal for a family to relax and explore in safety, use the games room and Wendy house and join in milking the couple of house cows in the morning and feeding the poultry in the evening. If anyone is feeling particularly keen, help with pruning in the young woodland is very welcome and is a very satisfying job.

The renowned Tarka Trail, one of the country’s longest continuous traffic-free walking and cycling paths, passes the end of the drive.

Many stretches of coast are within easy driving distance, as are a wide variety of North Devon’s holiday attractions, covering multiple interests from walking and fishing to paint balling and karting.

Whatever you do, you return at the end of the day to stunning views of Dartmoor over the rolling Devon landscape enjoyed from the tranquillity of the garden, or you can take a stroll around the farm to see the lake and the wildlife in the fields.

Other activities which can be enjoyed during your cottage holiday at Swardicott Farm:

  • Rough shooting on the farm
  • Trout fishing, in the River Torridge and nearby lakes
  • The Half Moon is an unspoilt traditional village inn one mile at Sheepwash.
